FALL PROTECTION FOR APARTMENT COMPLEX WITH GREEN ROOFS

Fall protection on green roofs

Partner: AllRisk & Koops Dakbedekking

Country: The Netherlands

Solution: Horizontal lifeline systems (★★★) and XSGlobe single anchor points with temporary horizontal lifeline (★)

The Prinsenveste in Culemborg is an apartment complex realized in 2017 by contractor P. Van Leeuwen. The building consists of five floors that are designed in a stepwise manner to create a connection with the surrounding terraced houses.

The complex consists of 30 apartments, including two penthouses. The penthouses have a view over the sedum green roofs of the complex. There is a tar and gravel roof on top of the penthouses.

In order to be able to perform safe maintenance, the owners association turned to our partner, AllRisk, and a connected roofer, Koops Roofing to provide a safety solution.

On the gravel roof, the highest point of the building, approximately 20 meters(65.6 ft) high, 11 XSGlobe anchor points have been installed. A mobile lanyard is also included for this system. It can be temporarily installed between two anchor points to allow more freedom of movement.

The four sedum green roofs of the complex are equipped with XSLinked horizontal lifeline systems. In total 66 meters (approx 216 ft) of horizontal lifeline was installed. The XSLinked allows technicians and maintenance workers to move easily and safely over the roof surface. This solution is also very suitable for the residents of the penthouses, because it does not interfere too much with their view.
