XSLinked Horizontal lifeline system for green roof maintenance

The Prinsenveste in Culemborg is an apartment complex completed in 2017 by contractor P. Van Leeuwen. The structure comprises five floors, designed in a stepped manner to harmonize with the adjacent terraced houses.

The complex boasts 30 apartments, including two penthouses affording views over the sedum green roofs. The penthouses are topped with tar and gravel roofs.

To ensure safe maintenance, the owners’ association enlisted our partner, AllRisk, and affiliated roofer, Koops Roofing, to devise a safety solution.

On the gravel roof, the highest point of the building, standing approximately 20 meters (65.6 ft) tall, 11 XSGlobe anchor points were installed. A mobile lanyard is also included in this system, allowing temporary installation between two anchor points for enhanced freedom of movement.

The four sedum green roofs of the complex feature XSLinked horizontal lifeline systems, totaling 66 meters (approx. 216 ft) in length. XSLinked facilitates technicians and maintenance workers to traverse the roof surface with ease and safety. This solution is also well-suited for penthouse residents as it minimally disrupts their views.
