ODIN LIFELINE CALCULATION TOOL

Easy calculation and reporting – Save time and money

LIFELINE CALCULATION MADE EASY

The ODIN calculation tool helps to save time on calculations, automatically generate detailed reports and prevent expensive miscalculation.

ODIN is used for roof, wall and overhead calculations. These calculations are based on year-long in house testing of our XSPlatforms products. Check out the video and find out why you should work with ODIN.

RELIABLE REPORTING

Many of our customers worldwide see ODIN as one of the best and most reliable tools for lifeline calculation. Using ODIN you can setup lifeline compliance systems for the following standards:

  • EN795:2012 & CEN/TS16415 (Europe)
  • ANSI Z359.6:2009 (United States)
  • CSA Z259.16-04:2009 (Canada)

When the calculation is complete, ODIN provides a calculation report with system certificate that confirms compliance with the selected norm.

LIFELINE CALCULATION WITHOUT ODIN

After roof inspection and measuring roof dimensions onsite, open a drawing tool.

  1. Sketch a roof or use an existing roof plan (if available).
  2. Check information regarding roofing material and roof construction.
  3. Choose a right lifeline solution and position of it on the roof.
  4. Contact a manufacturer and request to calculate the lifeline system and deliver a report with required information like:
    • span length,
    • anchor loads,
    • lifeline deflection,
    • minimal required clearance for a safe fall.
  5. Draw anchor points and lifelines.
  6. Indicate all supports of the lifeline on the roof plan.
  7. Open Word to create a report.
  8. Write down the different values mentioned above.
  9. Check if system is compliant to the needed standard.
  10. Copy the drawings to the Word document.
  11. Create a detailed report of the solution and test report.
  12. Recheck document for any miscalculations.

FAQ ABOUT ODIN

ODIN is an online calculation tool, which calculates the performance of each custom lifeline system and gives a full report with the results. System length, the number of spans, the amount of users, the cable tension. These are just some of the variables that together, define the configuration of a horizontal lifeline system. System calculations are mandatory, but can be a complex activity because every project is unique. By doing them manually, there is an increased risk of miscalculations.

ODIN is very simple to use. You start by creating a new project. Then you fill in the parameters, step by step, that you need in order to calculate the horizontal lifeline system. Once you’ve filled in everything, click “Execute calculation”. The tool will now generate a report for you, containing all the information you need to provide your customer(s). All your projects and associated reports are listed in the project overview.

You can use ODIN to precisely calculate the loads involved in the horizontal lifeline systems  together with the lifeline deflection and with the minimum clearance needed to make a safe fall (in case of a fall arrest system).

Thanks to ODIN, you and your clients are ensured the lifeline system complies with the applicable standard, without having to rely on manual calculations. This way if a fall accident does occur, the chance of injuries is reduced. Also, your clients have a report that proves the installed system meets the standards and guidelines.

ODIN was developed for every professional who is responsible for calculating a project’s required horizontal lifeline systems. After you fill in the variables that apply to your situation, a single click will generate a detailed report for you.

System number
When a project has several fall protection systems, it can be handy to add a system number (system 1, 2, 3 etcetera.)

In version 2.5.2, additional information regarding system number(s) can be added to the ODIN report.

Updated graphs
Graphs in the test report were updated and they are more clear-cut now. These graphs ensure that reports are easier to read and more user friendly.

Additional Notes
