FALL PROTECTION FOR BIGGEST CRUISE SHIP IN THE WORLD

Client: Royal Caribbean International

Partner: Altivia

Country: France

Solution: Wall lifelines + overhead lifelines

The MS Harmony of the Seas℠, the biggest cruise ship in the world when it was delivered in the first half of 2016, is equipped with custom-made XSPlatforms Fall Protection. In total, almost a kilometer of lifeline was installed at 7 different locations.

Its 22 lifelines are the result of a joint project of XSPlatforms and Altivia, a fall protection specialist and XSPlatforms Partner in France. The cooperation started with an extensive onsite fall hazard assessment in 2014. The main challenges of this prestigious project were the inclined walls of the ship and the maritime conditions that the equipment has to endure.

XSPlatforms designed 273 custom brackets on which XSLinked lifelines could be mounted. Also, the XSDynamic energy absorbers underwent an epoxy treatment and were sealed in a special sleeve to prevent the intrusion of seawater.
