CUSTOM BASE PLATES FOR QATAR'S NATIONAL LIBRARY

Client: Qatar National Library

Country: Qatar

Solution: Lifeline along roof edge (★★★★)

Qatar National Library is a non-profit organization that is housed in a state-of-the-art library facility in Doha’s Education City, the center of higher education in the country. The building is designed by the world-famous Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas.

The only way to provide access to the roof of this stunning structure was to design a custom solution that could be mounted on top of the roof’s 80-mm concrete slabs. For this, XSPlatforms designed a custom base plate that is slightly bigger than standard, and which is anchored with 4 anchors instead of just 1.

A total of six XSLinked lifeline trajectories were delivered for this project. Thanks to ingenious engineering, we were able to develop a unique solution to tackle the challenge of the client.
