Client: Royal Burgers’ Zoo
Partner: AllRisk valbeveiliging
Country: The Netherlands
Solution: Horizontal lifelines for roof and wall (★★★)
As a major public attraction, the Royal Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem wants to set an example. Not only when it comes to public safety, but also worker safety. AllRisk valbeveiliging was contacted to provide several fall protection systems within the zoo’s perimeters.
This resulted in the installation of two XSLinked wall systems: one inside the gorillas exhibit and one inside the chimpanzees exhibit. The systems are located right above the window, out of reach for the animals and out of sight for the audience. Both systems are to accommodate anchorage for window washers, when cleaning the exhibit-side of the windows.
Other fall protection systems can be found on the roofs of various Safari locations, such as the cheetahs and lions outdoor exhibit. The longest XSLinked system – with approx. 130 meters of lifeline – is installed on top of the main visitor-walkway. To maintain its architectural beauty in combination with its forest environment, these roofs need to be accessed regularly for the removal of branches.
