OVERHEAD ARREST SYSTEMS INSIDE CEILING OF PAPER MILL FACTORY

Partner: AllRisk valbeveiliging

Country: The Netherlands

Solution: Horizontal (overhead) lifeline systems (★★★) and single anchor points

Sappi’s Maastricht Mill produces high-quality products that are completely recyclable. The Maastricht Mill has a capacity of 280,000 tons of coated wood free paper per year.

To produce these amounts of paper large production units are used. These units generate a large amount of heat inside the factory that is party ventilated through its double (suspended) ceiling.

To perform maintenance above the first ceiling, the so-called suspended ceiling, AllRisk has installed 7 horizontal (overhead) lifelines and 48 single anchor points onto the steel structure of the factory. With these lifeline systems (combined over 430 meter/1410 feet of wire rope) maintenance workers can anchor themselves to the runner of a system and so be protected against the fall (trough) hazard that this ceiling has.
