Client: Lusail Real Estate Development Company (main contractor: Ceinsa Construction WLL & Al Jaber Trading & Contracting Co WLL)
Country: Qatar
Solution: Horizontal lifelines
Lusail is a city under construction just North of Doha, Qatar. A remarkable yacht club building will be located in a prominent position in the marina of Lusail, where it is highly visible from the water and the promenade.
The curved metallic cladding that forms the outer layer of the roof structure has a variable slope, not to mention its remarkable shape. This makes it impossible to apply an existing lifeline system. Eventually, an intensive collaboration between XSPlatforms and the client resulted in the design and production of custom base plates. The base plates are to be fixed to supports which are specifically designed for that purpose.
A total of 14 horizontal lifelines (13 lengthwise, 1 across) will be installed. The lifeline anchors near the roof edges will be equipped with RAP anchor points for abseiling. Workers will connect to the system at ground level.
