BENEFITS OF ODIN
- Quick and Reliable Calculations: ODIN eliminates the time-consuming process of manual calculations for horizontal lifeline systems. By simply inputting relevant project data, ODIN automatically generates the correct calculations and system specifications. This saves time and prevents costly mistakes.
2. Detailed Safety Reports: Once the calculations are done, ODIN generates a comprehensive report. This report includes schematic drawings of the system, section-by-section results, and confirmation of compliance with the relevant safety standards. This report can be used for inspections, insurance claims, or as proof of safety in audits.
3. Avoiding Errors and Reducing Costs: Manually calculating lifelines is complex and time-consuming. Incorrect calculations can lead to unsafe systems and higher costs. ODIN prevents errors by performing automated, precise calculations, saving both time and money. This makes ODIN an essential tool for any fall protection system design.
How ODIN Works
- Input Project Data
Enter relevant project details, such as foundation material, system purpose (fall restraint or fall arrest), and the applicable safety standard. ODIN will also ask for other technical specifications, such as the roof or wall material and the number of users. - Accurate Lifeline Calculations
ODIN uses the most precise data available to perform multiple calculations, including forces on anchors, system deflection, fall clearance, and energy absorption. These calculations are crucial in ensuring the structural integrity of the building and safety during a fall. - Generate Reports
After inputting all the necessary data, ODIN generates a detailed report that includes:- A schematic representation of the system.
- Calculations for each section of the lifeline.
- Verification that the system meets applicable standards.
If the proposed system fails to meet any requirements, ODIN will indicate where the design needs revision.
- Reports and Certificates
The generated report includes a certificate confirming that the system complies with the relevant standards (e.g., OSHA or CSA). This is essential for workplace inspections, insurance claims, or legal purposes. ODIN not only provides a schematic drawing but also test results and specific instructions for system use and installation.

LIFELINE CALCULATION WITHOUT ODIN
After roof inspection and measuring roof dimensions onsite, open a drawing tool.
- Sketch a roof or use an existing roof plan (if available).
- Check information regarding roofing material and roof construction.
- Choose a right lifeline solution and position of it on the roof.
- Contact a manufacturer and request to calculate the lifeline system and deliver a report with required information like:
- span length,
- anchor loads,
- lifeline deflection,
- minimal required clearance for a safe fall.
- Draw anchor points and lifelines.
- Indicate all supports of the lifeline on the roof plan.
- Open Word to create a report.
- Write down the different values mentioned above.
- Check if system is compliant to the needed standard.
- Copy the drawings to the Word document.
- Create a detailed report of the solution and test report.
- Recheck document for any miscalculations.
Average time required: 2+ hours

LIFELINE CALCULATION WITHOUT ODIN
After roof inspection and measuring roof dimensions onsite, start the ODIN lifeline calculation tool.
- Sketch a roof or use an existing roof plan (if available).
- Check information regarding roofing material and roof construction.
- Choose a right lifeline solution and position of it on the roof.
- Open ODIN and enter all relevant information as:
- norm to comply with
- roofing/wall material
- selected product and number of users
- ODIN calculates and approves if the system meets the selected standard and automatically provides a custom report for your customer.
- Indicate all supports of the lifeline on the roof plan.
Average time required: 15-30 minutes (depending on the complexity of the lifeline system)
HOW ODIN CALCULATES FALL ARREST AND FALL ARREST SYSTEM
ODIN allows for the calculation of both fall arrest and fall restraint systems, ensuring that the right type of protection is in place for each unique project.
- Fall Arrest Systems: These are designed to stop a fall after it has occurred, by rapidly decelerating the falling person to prevent injury. ODIN calculates the forces applied to the lifeline and anchor points to ensure that the system can safely absorb these forces.
- Fall Restraint Systems: These prevent a worker from reaching an unsafe fall area. ODIN ensures the system is designed to restrict movement while maintaining the safety of the worker at height.
RELIABLE REPORTING
Many of our customers worldwide see ODIN lifeline calculation tool as one of the best and most reliable tools for fall protection calculation. Using ODIN you can setup lifeline compliance systems for the following standards:
- EN795:2012 & CEN/TS16415 (Europe)
- ANSI Z359.6:2009 (United States)
- CSA Z259.16-04:2009 (Canada)
When the calculation is complete, ODIN provides a calculation report with system certificate that confirms compliance with the selected norm.
