Fall protection solution for temporary roof safety

Some types of work don’t look like they fall under the category “working at height” but they certainly do. Take working in and around loading docks for example. Although most work is performed on a ground floor level, workers do encounter the risk of a fall from height. For example when making a missed step and fall into to a lower situated loading dock. These types of fall hazards are the perfect example of the need for a collective fall prevention solution.

A safety measure that takes away the risk of falling for everyone in that work area. Next to this, there are more obvious fall hazards to deal with when working around loading docks. Take working on top of a trailer or truck for example. Rooftop access to these vehicles could be necessary for (un)loading or for quick maintenance duties. As you can imagine, different situations require different solutions and XSPlatforms is happy to think of solutions to guarantee safety for everyone. As you can see in our suggested solutions and products below.

Next to a temporary guardrail, XSPlatforms also offers a range of permanently fixed guardrails. Our XSWall Fixed and XSParapet Fixed guardrail systems are not only suited as a safety measure on a roof, but can also be installed on and alongside other types of objects. As seen here, the XSParapet Fixed is mounted directly onto a structure to guard a potential fall hazard for workers around this location. The uprights of XSPlatforms guardrails can be installed up to approx. 2.44 m/8 ft. apart from each other, meaning that fewer products are needed for longer spans of guardrail. Making the XSGuardrail a very cost-efficient safety solution. Read more…

A horizontal rigid rail system, such as the XSRail system, can be mounted in almost every horizontal position. On a roof, alongside a wall or as an overhead fall protection system. Although most features compare to those of a horizontal lifeline system, rail systems have their own advantages when it comes to usability and installation. For one, an XSRail system generates less deflection than a steel wire-rope, meaning that less fall clearance needs to be available. Therefore systems like this are very appropriate for working on top of lower type objects such as trailers or containers. The combination with a fall arrest device (XStop) ensures an even quicker arrest in case of a fall, further reducing the fall distance. XSPlatforms horizontal rail systems have a durable design, are quick and easily to install, are very friendly in use and are suitable for almost every type of situation.  Read more…
